Re: My new park probe

Could you put a ruler and a thin screwdriver in the photos so we can see the size relative to those items? It would help me, maybe others.

It looks like a interesting design for getting under targets. I use a long thin screwdriver and can get anything that registers on my Garrett "Carrot" with that. Deeper than 4 inches is harder. But I also use a slot cut into the sod, where I can remove some soil in about a 2-3 inch diameter area to pull deeper items that my fingers can't reach... then put the soil back (that was on my dropcloth), push the soil down and push and consolidate the pushed back roots. Usually you cannot see where the slot was made after this type of recovery, even when you know exactly where it is. You must be precise in locating the target before the recovery, and I usually can locate it with my long probe.

When there is only a slot cut in the sod, there is no possibility that a mower can lift the sod. The roots are pushed aside, target removed, roots moved back to previous position, with only a single line cut in the sod.

The hand-digger tool looks fine for a park.
