For me, the important key to remember is that many of us have (or had) focus on narrow / specialized areas of interest and equipment and techniques fine tuned to those areas. And we might project that our WAYS and EQUIPMENT directly transfer to all other areas of detecting.

Yep, that is my situation 99% of the time. I detect the same environment. And for me, the Core/OOR coil combo has worked out pretty well. If I was to jump into some different environments such as parks, beaches etc then I am sure there might be some better tools for the job.
But I feel the Core with a small coil works great for what I want to do. My machine settings have been the same since using the Core in 2015. So when I turn it on it's always the same machine, only adjusting gain once in a while, and have learned the nuances. I'm not one for tons of adjustments, once ya start fiddling with all the different settings you really end up with quite a different machine and god knows I'm not smart enough in that if I make a big setting change here, what else is that setting change effecting that I might need to go in and make adjustments etc etc.
The Core offers plenty of power in a simple package and I like to keep it simple

but will agree that the CoRe also lacks a few key settings that would be really nice such as iron audio volume. That's prob the biggest downfall/setback of the Core is that.
