It also points out some of the differences we all can have. In your case, from what you did for work, it suggests to me that you have hearing abilities that many detecting hobbyists don't have. I know I don't. Due to incoming mortar rounds when in Viet Nam that nearly killed me, I lost some hearing. When I applied for a veteran summer-hire
(aka Part Time) job at HAFB, they told me I was deaf after the hearing exam. I got the same responses from them when tested in '83, '84, '85 and '86 and was told I was not qualified for a full-time civilian job at HFAB due to my 'deafness' mainly in my left ear.
Then in '10 I had a fall-of-a-ladder incident where I fractured my skull behind my right ear, and also ruptured the right ear drum. It healed, in time, with scar issue in my ear canal and ear drum. Now my bad left ear became my better ear which is also why I am picky about the detectors I like to use, based on their audio report, and I definitely have selected headphones that seem to provide the best audio
for me.
I haven't had an XP Deus model, but I have had a few of their
ORX detectors and one of the best things about them was their audio quality and report.
So audio tone, audio quality, and deciding on a Saturated Audio or Modulated Audio is also governed by the units design, the type of site hunted, and the operator's hearing ability.
Just my thoughts and experience.
