Seems that more than a few of you frequenting AHRPS have detecting roots going back a ways. I've had a few detectors over the years, but looking for a favorite from the 80's, hmmm. Let's see.
My first detector was a Whites Coinmaster TR i bought in 1976. It wasn't until the mid-80's that i bought a motion discrimination unit - what i think of as George Payne's finest - the Teknetics Mark 1. Mine was the hip-mount version. I found a lot of silver coins with that detector and came to appreciate audio and visual target ID. The Mark 1 coupled with the 8 1/2" coil was my mainstay for hunting private yards and parking strips until White's came out with the Eagle series a few years later.
I liked the Eagle a lot, but i have to say that the Mark 1 was a silver slayer for sure.
Curious what your favorite detector of the 80's might be and why.

Just one more good target before I go.
