Thank you!
Back to my point no matter who thought it was a good standard that particular target in salt conditions has very little value.
Monte's Nailboard test can show separation from iron and also a prime example how concentric coils handle that scenario better than a DD coil. That test is a good eye opener for people to try.
What the hell does the NBT have to do with a depth test, other than the NBT shows ya might not get depth if you are trying to detect ground infested with nails (iron) etc.
Hate to burst your bubble Kac, but your statement is false. And yes I like concentric coils. The 7" concentric on the Racer and soon to be Kruzer is a great coil and at times will handle rusted tin a bit better.
When Monte lived down the street and you guessed it, we did plenty of Nail Board Test. In one test we incorporated a fifth nail. A nail that we placed on the board and could slide closer and closer to the coin making the test harder each time we moved the nail closer to the coin. When it was all said and done, and the last machine standing that could still get a beep on the coin was the CoRe with the small 4.7" x 5.2" DD coil and the Relic machine was right at the top spot as well with its small 5" DD coil.
The Tesoro's with their small 6" concentric coils failed somewhat early on. Same as a Classic machine with the really small snooper concentric coil.
But some of that has to do with machine circuitry design.......it isn't a strict DD vs Concentric coil thing.
Put a DD coil on your Tesoro and it becomes almost worthless.
I found the Nickel depth test very valid. The test achieved what it needed to ....like the NBT. In the case of the GSL the machine(s) that could hit the 16" nickel, well those would most likely be the machines to find the targets that are at that depth vs machines that could not hit the target at 16"
In other words, I know there are targets in that 16" range, so how do I determine what might be the best machine to go after those targets in that 16" range? That test was valid and it showed the machines that they had which could and couldn't. And yes I would have used a Nickel as well. If I can hit that at 16" then there are plenty of other targets I can hit as well.
Same as the NBT, machines that can get an 8 for 8 hit on the test vs machines that only can hit the coin 4 of 8 or 5 of 8............well my guess is that the machines that can do 8 of 8 are more likely to do better in that kind of environment than the machines that can't hit 8 of 8.
