Have small coils fallen completely out of vogue Monte?

There's a 6" round for the 800/900, but the 800/600 has been out for 5 years now. The subsequent vanquish has the 8"x5.5" as the smallest and it seems that this is also the smallest 'new' coil size being offered on the Manticore as well. The announced but not here yet X-Terra also sports the V8X, which is 8"x5.5", as its' smallest coil. A trend here?

XP has their 9" Round Coil for the Deus 2 and the 9.5"x5" HF coil for the ORX and Deus 1. Both the ORX and Deus 1 are older designs. But there is an inherent limit to size with XP's design of battery, wireless comm's and coil controls all in one so i don't have expectations here.

I believe Garrett's latest design, the ACE Apex, has the 8"x5" Ripper coil as the smallest. All their other small coils are associated with detectors that have been on the market for several years or more. Same with Fisher/Teknetics.

Is the 4.5" / 5" sniper type coil something in our rearview mirror? I better hang onto that CoRe w/OOR i have.
