OregonGreggAs UtahRich said, so many choices , so I'm gonna hopefully help narrow it down.
Three pictures:
If you like and agree with pic # 1 then go Minelab. But then the decision is which one.....but at least we have it narrowed down to a brand
If you like and agree with Pic #2 then go Nokta/Makro.....but again, which model........I went with the Kruzer cause I got a crush on the mermaid
but at least we have narrowed it down to a brand.
Pic # 3 I call the wild card/conspiracy theory pic. It is a picture of a guy on the cover of a popular metal-detecting magazine from 33 years ago. Word is he is still out there, still pushing Tesoro, single freq and small coils.
Before making a decision, I wonder what his take would be.......but where to start looking and tracking him down ???
Outside of that, it's like asking "What's The Best Detector" again, and I think you will not get a definitive answer. I would say what kinda environment will you most often be detecting Park, beach, ghost towns etc) and narrow it down to a few machines that will give you what you want/need in order to do that.
But that guy with the Challenger X-100 sure looked a lot more fit than today. Bummer. I remember those days.
