Well OregonGregg, I haven't seen many snow angels lately. Plenty of snow devils to be found this season though...
My only advice is don't try to make them snow angels in the dog park.
So as to keep the post detecting related, I'll tell everyone I've been a Law Enforcement guy in a Utah Ski Town for 33 years and involved in metal detecting for almost 20 of those years. Our resort is an old one and a detectorist who knows where to look can sometimes come down the hill with some decent silver coins. This is how I met UtahRich back when we were both swinging Etracs. A couple of hints about detecting snow country after the resorts close...
• Know the open/closed status of the mountain. There's a good deal of maintenance that goes on during the off season involving heavy equipment and explosives. Some resorts are on leased Forest land and some are private property.
• There's a great opportunity to promote the hobby returning lost cell phones. Most Ski Areas have a summer office and lost and found department.
• Expect aluminum and lots of it. Ski poles, binding parts, etc, that go through the grooming and snow removal tillers sound great and there's thousands of them.
• There's decent chances for finding jewelry of all types. (Hint, lots of lost gloves laying around and every now and then, there's a ring in them).
• Take your cell phone too. We respond to a lot of medical emergencies on the hill and even if you are in shape, your 911 call could save someone else.
