I am referring to the days of active, long-running local clubs. At its peak we had about 350 to 375 metal detecting clubs across the USA, but as manufactures, local a dealers, and general interested in the hobby decline so did clubs.
Old timers got too old or passed away and there hasn'r been ample interest to draw in ĺ
It is sad and I feel for you, but along the way maybe some good will come of it as you meet others.
