Too many parents didn't want to be bothered raising their children so they left it for the rest of the world to do it. Well, here we are. Society was just waiting to grab hold of those unattended children and raise them 'their' way. And they did.

Ooh Rich, this hit an already exposed nerve for me. SPOT ON
IPhones, Instagram, Facebook, etc. are raising our country's young, not parents.
It's not fair, you're not the boss of me, I identify as "X" but you have no right to be "Y", people with money are evil and owe all of it to me, occupy this, occupy that, blah-blah-blah sound familiar?
The kicker is we as a society are paying for the privilege to have Russia/China and other enemies of decency pump these messages all sweetened up to our kids as if it's coming from down the street.
I don't go near certain old parks and sites anymore for fear of having to high step over needles, getting accosted or worse.
Metal detecting has been my one refuge from the cesspool. I'm glad there's a few grumpy ol man/woman types out there swinging a coil. They're just about the only folks I relate to anymore.
I will say though that every rule has an exception. I have met some fine younger detectorists that are every bit as passionate about the hobby as I am and are good stewards of the places they hunt.
I hope they become our future club officers, forum friends and detecting etiquette teachers.
