Even today I feel the best all-purpose detector in White's line-up

is the MXT Pro / All-Pro ... same detector with only an 'All' sticker on the side of the latter production.

I'm afraid there is a couple of defects with the V3i. 1. It reads a deep-deep silver dimes as iron. Several other detectors do this. Unacceptable to me. 2. It's response time is too slow. This is where analog machines shine. That is one reason the MXT is so good - it is an analog/digital hybrid.

Yes, the Vision started out kind of 'rushed-to-market' before there was ample testing and evaluation because it had a lot of glitches and problems. As it progressed to the V3 and then the V3i, most of the problems had been taken care of, but by design, it still has some annoying behavior that they didn't seem to clean up, such as the often defective 10" D2 DD coil, the delayed response, and a need for a more controlled sweep speed/search coil presentation, and it didn't GB as quickly or as smoothly as the MXT Pro.

I think White's has some work ahead of them, too, because the MXT Pro is still their better all-around model but lacks a lot of more modern adjustment functions found on many competitor's models for the last 1-3 years. Competitors have also either introduced new models at more competitive prices, or lowered the MSRP of existing proven performers to lower an d more attractive prices of what White's is asking for the MXT Pro.

Then they once-again did a 'rush-to-market' with the MX Sport which also had/has a lot of glitches or just poor package design. It was accompanied by several really low-quality to terrible videos, and I know several who pulled the trigger and bought one only to regret it, complain about the poor performance, and they went back to another MXT Pro.

I hope you can make a WTHO this year George, especially the one over here in Eastern Oregon in June. Just keep that MXT Pro & 6½" Concentric coil ready to get busy and find an Indian Head or more!
