Some Q & A regarding your Tesoro Outlaw & DD coil issues.

Why would my 12x10 DD coil, on my Tesoro Outlaw, be less sensitive than the 8 inch donut?.
Q: If you would, please describe what you mean by "less sensitive?"

A: Depending upon 'how' or 'what' you consider 'sensitive' to be, there can be a variety of possible answers. For example, some might consider 'sensitivity' to be depth of detection. Other might consider 'sensitivity' to be the ability to give a good response on a tiny-sized object. Still, others might view 'sensitivity' as how loud or strong a signal might be. Then, too, I hear some relate 'sensitivity' as the ability to respond to favorable targets in a densely littered site.

Therefore, to provide a useful answer, it's good to know what particular aspect of 'less sensitive' I need to relate to.

The sounds from the DD are very choppy, even on shallow coins. The sounds clear up a bit if the coil sweep is sped up..
Q: Is this a condition you experience in a somewhat clean area w/o nearby trash?

Q: When you say "even on shallow coins" are you sweeping over coin that are within 2" of the search coil, especially those just an inch or so?

Another interesting fact is that I cannot get the coil to Power Balance. Even if the Sensitivity is maxed out.
Comment: Technically, you can't get the Outlaw to 'Power Balance' when using that particular search coil.

Q: Have you tried to 'Power Balance' that Outlaw with a different search coil?

A: If you have tried to, and were successful, then the issue is most logically a problem with the 10X12 DD search coil.

A: If you tried, but failed to achieve a functional 'Power Balance,' then there is either a problem with that particular Outlaw, or you don't quite understand the steps to properly 'Power Balance' while in the silent-search Discriminate mode.

Comments: Always be sure there are no metal objects in the area of ground where you want to adjust the GB in the Disc. mode. Remember, too, to bob the search coil from about 8" down to maybe 1"-2" when 'Power Balancing' and a slower bobbing motion. Larger-size coils see more ground and with the dynamics of a DD design it can sometimes be a little noisy when adjusting.

If you did everything correct and the Outlaw is in fine working order, and you pressed and released the Pinpoint button when in the Disc. mode before starting the GB procedure, then I would think it is a search coil issue.
