Re: The V3i vs The Board

May 06, 2017 10:37AM
On paper the V3i and the lesser VX3 sound amazing detectors,i have used the DFX since mine arrived here in the UK back in 2001/2 and have 1000s of hours on the clock, most DFX/MAXT/M6 and other similar spec model owners the logic step was upgrading too the VX3i,must admit although i did try one for a couple of months i am certainly glad that i did not part with any money for it.

It may be the best detector in the world in the eyes of those folks who have spent the time in mastering this machine, but being so flexible settings wise i feel was its massive down fall, since this detector arrived here in the UK i can/could count on the fingers on one hand how many that i have actually seen being used on say club digs or rallies, but i do see 100s of other models and makes being used,a classic example is the XP Deus you can see 1000s and 1000s of them being used, they do have similar multi freq options albeit not all together i will admit.

I have always liked Whites detectors as i do own apart from the DFX a IDX Pro,TDI Pro mainly because they did/do what i wanted from on my sites, but i feel that Whites have fallen way behind the detecting game in recent year and if i am honest they appear to be going the same way as Tesoro have by sitting on the 'laurels from past decades and it dont work like that any longer here in the detecting game.Other brands from either the US or also European countries are just taking over about every detecting crown going,i am not saying dont have any older models or Whites/tesoro machines in ones detecting arsenal as i also do.

Whites was at some stage was within the top 3 detectors on the planet especially across the pond, that has all changed for the good i may add with new kids on the block ie XP,Nokta/Makro and a few other as these companies produce what we want from a detector not a glossy new paintwork and a very slight detail change as what Tesoro do,Nokta produce new models from basic concept from what detectorist's want from drawing board and into production in a very short time duration like say a year,a quicker time duration that most folks can learn all the ins and outs of a VX3i.

Of course if folks are happy using these Whites VX3i models then that is basically what its all about, but for me and as other have highlighted they are not the easiest machine to master and why they prefer machines that can perform similar or in most cases better all round performance. This of course as usual is just my personal opinion from actually use a VX3i and observations from the lack of user using them, this tells me alot.

Deus and Nexus MP.

DFX,IDX Pro,TDI Pro,Crossbow Pulse,Mirage Pulse,Fisher TW-5 twin box,UK Vaquero,Adrado 120b,Nexus SE mainly site specific use machines.
