monte! you didn't test the tesoro mojave with 7" coil?

No, not on this particular test scenario, but I have matched this in the past when using 5 different Tesoro's and swapping coils around to determine which coil I preferred on which model. I really like the Mojave and that 7" Concentric coil, but field performance was the same as the other Tesoro models. I should clarify that with other 'modern' Tesoro models.

The Bandido II µMAX and Silver Sabre µMAX are, and have been, my two most favorite general-purpose Tesoro's because I like the enhanced depth and louder mid-range targets response compared with earlier Tesoro products. However, one thing I noticed from the very first time I checked out a Bandido II µMAX a dealer friend and I had just unboxed and compared with his Golden Sabre was that the newer models, with the Low-Noise/High-Gain circuitry, did give the extra depth a louder target response on mid-depth to deeper targets, but they also didn't handle really dense, challenging iron as well as the earlier Tesoro models before the L-N/H-G circuitry.

I have my two favorite Tesoro's in my Detector Team because I know what they can do for me in many applications, just as I know most of their weaknesses. That's exactly why I have the other units in my outfit because, as a group, I will have detectors better suited for different site challenges than others. Hunting densely iron littered sites with very challenging good-target masking conditions can best be handled by some of them, while taking on a potential 'cache hunting' challenge they might fail while other devices excel.

No perfect detector made, regardless of the price or number of extra features it might have. However, there are quite a few very good detectors and selecting a few that complement each other makes for a great outfit. The Mojave w/7" Concentric is a very good detector, to be sure. Great value. Wonderful for many applications. Challenged in this particular test and only gave 2-out-of-4 hits like my Bandido II µMAX and Silver Sabre µMAX when I compared them before.
