Gregg, your 'guess' was correct, but only 1 of the 5.

given it was a button with iron involved ( The Nail) I'm going to guess that the Nokta Fors Core with 5" OOR coil was one of the 5 and came in close to 1st or 1st place.
Yes, the Nokta CoRe w/'OOR' DD, was one of two models out of the 5 that gave 4-out-of-4 hits using a Discrimination adjustment to just reject the iron nail.

The copper-looking button front-piece measures about ¾" in diameter, and the rusty nail is about 3½" in length. So I am not using a tiny nonferrous target and a whopper of a nail, just two samples that were both found hunting some of the ghost towns I enjoy visiting.

Oh, and a follow-up comment is that the CoRe was tested in both the 3-Tone and 2-Tone modes with Discrimination at '21'/'22' to reject the iron nail, and while both modes performed, the 2-Tone mode was by far the most brilliant response. A much cleaner VCO enhanced audio than the 'processed' audio of the 3-Tone mode. Just thought I'd share that with you because, as you know, I have demonstrated the merits of 2-Tone performance in the past on a number of detector testings we have done. winking smiley

Yes, like you I prefer to use 3-Tone most of the time with the smaller-size coils in the very debris-filled sites we hunt, but .... Knowing what 2-Tone can do, and learning to hunt in that function, can open up and enhance results in many applications. That's what I prefer to use with a mid-sized coil in low-trash to moderately littered places, but I will opt for it at times in the really ugly sites.
