Last 5 days, with #29 doing 'quick hits' for pocket drops.

July 31, 2019 03:12PM avatar
#27 & #28 were taking care of some clean-up around home while staying indoors as much as possible with the AC keeping everything comfortable.

On Day #29, I left very early, about 2:30 AM to take my time and only drive short distances, as instructed, and devote a bit of time hitting a tot-lot/playground or two in various small towns as I worked my way over to our hunt-tag zone to do some pre-season scouting for deer season here in Eastern Oregon. I devoted the entire day Monday to hitting sites from early light, in La Grande, until the sun set, when I was in Heppner.

I had my CoRe, Relic and ORX loaded in case I had the time and opportunity to work some iron-littered old sites. I only ran across two older sites, but both were unproductive. Renovation work at two towns that was nearing completion and what open area that was remaining already had some rock and dirt fill brought in.

I also had my XLT, Omega 8000 and F44 loaded in case I had more of a casual urban Coin Hunting opportunity other than 'flash-money' sites (better described as structure-outfitted tot-lots or playgrounds) such as open grassy areas like parks, yards, parking strips, etc. There were no private places or public sites that were in cooler, shade-tree areas. Besides, I was progressing to where I planned to get in some hunting season scouting and was only taking break periods away from driving to move about and stretch. Miss Rikki needed to stretch and relieve herself as well.

And for those tasks, I also had my Bandido II µMAX along for the ride, and when it comes to doing quick hit-and-run sessions in typical playground areas, it is very tough to beat a very reliable Tesoro. I had a pretty decent day, hitting just one playground at each of the following towns along my route, except Hermiston where I hit two..

If I had a 100 coin-per-month club meeting goal, like Remfire, I could easily handle a month or two making a quick-hit one-day run like this. And this was eliminating any visit to a bigger metro area as these are all small-size towns. If my health wasn't so limiting, I could head off to these same towns tomorrow and, spending maybe a little more time since I did thin them down a might, I could probably match or better the results I had for the day. Especially since several of these towns do have more than one huntable location in them but I just made quick work of one place per town.

I'll add Monday's finds with those I made from all of the earlier month when I could get out around here, and anything I might chance upon when it cools this evening. Here are the quick-hit results I achieved making use of my Bandito II microMAX w/6" Concentric coil by town (all here in Oregon):

La Grande: 41 coins

That day's total was: 140- .. 32- .. 38-10¢ .. 48-25¢ .. 1-50¢ .. 2-$1 for a total of 261 coins.

I still need to make a several day drive into a more populated city where I can round up a lot more since I am so far behind the annual goal I set for myself. Maybe that will happen after the summer heat starts to ease up in another month.

At least I had some fun, and that's what we should all enjoy doing. Then I rested up at a campground in the forest and did some scouting yesterday, then headed home late. I might be headed to Portland, Oregon or Ogden, Utah in the next week or so, and if all goes well and I can fit one of those trips in for several days, I have no doubt that I'll inch a lot closer to that annual goal I set.

Happy Hunting to all,

Monte
