Hunting a sports field this weekend and was surprised when I pulled a buffalo nickel from the ground out near the road.
I was even more surprised when it had a date on it. I'm still soaking it to soften up the crud on it, though it probably won't help much as it's been a really wet spring. Anyway, it is a 1916 probably with no mint mark (Philadelphia). These things were hard to get with a full date when I was a boy in grade school more than 60 years ago. I hope it looks nice when it's cleaned up. So far I am liking Park 1, 50 tones, horseshoe on. I am seeming to find a lot of coins on edge that I don't think I was finding before and more coins adjacent to other metal.
