Oh, I'll still dig them, and items in the same vicinity on the conductivity scale to clear them out (I do like finding IHC's and big brass tokens and such), it's just that they no longer count as coins found. they are categorized along with other trash items like pull tabs, screw caps, crown caps, etc.

If it is clean and usable, I'll spend it, if not, I have one of the plastic nut containers that comes from Costco it is tossed into for future use. I had destruction in mind by maybe protecting your roof is a better choice.

Most of the zinc's that have been in the ground for any significant length of time are well along the rotted away path. I've been doing some shallow water hunting the last couple years. The zinc's that come from the water are bad. thumbs down

I've dug very few zinc pennies at ghost towns, just the ones tossed in front of me by 'friends' to give my coil something to beep over. eye rolling smiley

You know, i still roll them up as long as they look like pennies and send them to the bank. I have a large jar of half rotted pennies. Keep trying to figure out the method to put them on my roof for moss control. Maybe i'll glue a strip near the ridge and pour them above the strip to leach copper/zinc over time.

The only downside of not digging zincolns is not digging IHCs, old Wheat, $5 Au and a few others. Guess we don't find too many zincolns in the old site locations....unless you are OregonGreggeye popping smiley

But yes, wish they'd go away and stop production!
