I got an early start when it was still reasonably cool, but totally clear skies hinted of the heat to come. Those trees lined the East side of the park are were the only ones casting shade over the park grass. Coins numbered fewer than 24 when the city park crew also decided to take advantage of the cooler morning, and shade, and showed up to start their lawn mowing. I pushed on.
Had to stop t the Post Office to mail off a payment for an order, then checked around for any available shady sites, but none in town other than a property owned by the school that was all being watered. We hit 99° / 100° depending upon which weather source I referred to and either way it was just too hot.
I planned to hit the West side of the park for shade during the last couple of hours before sunset, but it had only cooled to 97° with virtually no breeze. I dozed off in my recliner watching a movie and woke up about fifteen minutes after sunset so I am going to have to give it an early morning try today.
It's 6:35, which is sunrise right now, so I'll take my insulin and meds and hit the road. It's 72° outside now with a 3 mph breeze. Supposed to be in the 90's well before noon and a high of about 104° today and again tomorrow. Saturday and Sunday cool to the 100°-102° range. So morning shade, here I come. Hope to do better than two-dozen coins today as that's a meager amount. I hope others can get in some hunt-time as well.
