July 30th, late posting:
July has been a hot and very dry month overall with very little opportunity to hunt in grassy areas. Update 3 was just released for the Equinox and I updated my machine and wanted to try it out, so I went to a field that I had seen being irrigated several times, thinking I might find some suitable areas where targets could be dug without killing the grass.
Arriving at the site, I found on digging my first target that the sandy soil was dry as a bone, so I decided, no digging, recoveries using a probe only, or go home.
So I hunted for about an hour and left all targets that I couldn't isolate with my carrot pointer. My best surprise was my first silver ring of the month 2-3 inches down. I actually thought it was going to be junk aluminum as it was next to a chain link fence where I usually find mostly large scrap metal. Only five coins recovered and I did not get a chance to try out the new 4khz frequency on the EQ, as I was searching for near-surface items only.
