In my home state there is a large and well known amusement park. I had often wished to have access to detect it, and one day a detecting friend knew the 'right person' to talk to who gave him / us permission to get in when it was closed season and do some detecting around some of the rides they were relocation. One was the Rocket that suspended people upside-down. I've never used that ride and I wouldn't care to. But I have watched it and similar rides and often wondered how much change and other pocket-loss their might be under and around those ride. The answer we had was ....
a lot !!!
That was back in '86 or easily '87, and the dirt and grass area under and around where that ride had been was a terrific way to spend a day in one smaller-size area. We only had access for that one area on that occasion, and it must have been early '87 because I moved back up here to Oregon and went to work for Compass Electronics that July. I know he said he got access to one other area after that, but it wasn't as productive as where we had hunted. It sure wowuld be great to have access to that location for the entire closed season as there would be a lot to be found. In early '87 over half the Dimes and Quarters we recovered were silver, and the quantity of coins kept my rounded-off screwdriver busy.
