That's very interesting Scott & congrats on the finds.----You asked about finding steel wheaties.---Patsy & I have found just a few over the years in the SW (AZ) in the dry areas & when hunting in all metal (which I don't have the patience to do much of)

-----They were found in very dry areas that received very little moisture.---In damp ground they just disintegrate to nothing.---They are a rare find for us.------Del----

Had a quick hunt this evening and dug exactly 10 holes ... two held pull tabs ... two held square nails ... one had a fired bullet or piece of lead of similar size... one had a small cuff button, I haven't identified yet ... one held a modern nickel ... two held single wheaties pennies a 1919 and a 1920 ... the last hole held three wheaties pennies, a 1951, a 1957D and my first ever steel penny (I'm sure it is a 1944:-)) ... anyone else ever dig a steel penny?
