I know that from time-to-time I have used the word 'hate' to describe a particular detector orr coil, but I really prefer to use a reference to 'dislike' or 'don't care for' as I address certain makes and models. Some I have owned and used at time for several years, such as the Minelab Sovereign XS-2a Pro or Explorer II and SE models. I DID like some of the performance I got from them in locations where I felt they were helpful for my needs and the site. But at the same time I DIDN'T like their weight and balance o configuration. Due to my health and mobility they were more troublesome than the models I preferred to use most of the time and for the sites I mainly worked.

As for the CZ's, I DIDN'T like their top-heavy feel or the weight and handling with a coil larger than 8" diameter, and even that still caused me more fatigue in a shorter period of time than other units I favored. I preferred them in less trash and more open environments for deeper coin searches and actually worked both my CZ-5's and the Sovereigns and Explorers back and forth over same / similar sites where they gave better TID on mid-depth to deeper coins ... at the time ... than my other TID models. For readers i will add that I liked the CZ-5;s performance and TID results better than the Sovereigns and Explores using comparable and standard coils.

For those Minelab's and CZ's I used used liked, it was simply that as I aged I DIDN'T like their weight or balance for where I mainly hunted.

As for the Tesoro model you like, I didn't HATE it either, but simply DIDN'T like the performance that I had with it in places I liked to search. I also wish it would have had a good external GB control, and it was like several other Tesoro models that either had a design glitch or just DIDN'T work like I hoped they might. I have my favorite Tesoro models, to include the Inca that got me hooked on that brand (thank you Hombre for selling a choice-condition unit to me), but it was that Golden µMAX model that let me down where I hunted.

As with any make or model, however, I am glad they do work for some folks and reward them with good finds, so keep it up.
