Mike, I tumble Zinc & Copper cents, as well as

Sacajawea and modern 'golden' dollars all together. I don't separate the Zinc from Copper in the processing, and that includes shaking them around and soaking for 4 to 5 minutes in the 'pre-treatment' session right before going into the tumbler. It can be surprising to see the difference in the coins' appearance when you use the 'pre-treatment' method with Lysol or a few other liquid toilet bowel cleaners.

I have had some less than satisfactory results with some of the liquid TB cleaners, but have usually just used what I buy at Dollar Tree and it works okay. Remember, the liquid solution can be reused several times on different coin metal groups, too, and my tumbler usually gets the job done in a 30 to 45 minutes session..

Sounds like a lot of coins come through their life in good shape.
