I stopped at our coin shop but didn't learn much on either coin. The lady said she is not an expert on error coins and she theorized the 1918 had been subjected to acid but could not explain why it still had so much detail. As to the 1982, she had no theory, and had never seen a "large" cent. There is a coin club in Bend I may try to contact.

Del, they recommended Terry at Baker Gold and Silver as a good guy to deal with. I assume that is the guy you have been talking to.
