Yep, it was a fun adventure.....

April 28, 2019 04:20PM avatar
As Zincoln stated, we hit quite a few sites and covered a lot of ground. I didn't think at the end of it all, that we would all do quite as well as we did. At one of the sites they put cattle in there and they grazed out a large area of the old site that was impossible to detect in the past. We managed some nice coins out of that area.

And once again I was up against Zincoln's special edition Whites Spectra Seated V3i 9000 model. Wasn't too bad this year although at one point that machine seriously was headed into the creek. One year ago in April Monte, Zincoln and I hit a Southern Idaho site and they each snagged one of those Good For $2.50 tokens and I didn't........and cried all the way back home. We ended up at that site again this time around and worked our way back to that area and I'll be darned, Zincoln got a somewhat iffy signal and he dug another one of those tokens.

I was about 25 feet away and he hollered and held it up. I immediately knew what he had, I fell to my knees and tears started welling up in my eyes. I got myself back up and walked over to look at that large token. I then looked at that V3i and then the creek and back to the V3i, it was all I could do to contain myself. So I checked out the token with the Racer 2 and it came in dead on 80/81. I hunted around that area with no luck, and at the last moment, I moved some debris out of the way and no more started to swing over the area I got a dead-on 80/81 signal. I hollered at Zincoln to bring that V3i over and do his fancy graph analysis on my target and for the sake of that poor V3i, it had better show a very nice bell curve and whatever else that damn thing does over good targets. Well, it did.....and like Zincoln with his Barber Quarter, I didn't want to dig it only to get a mason jar lid or such thing. I took a deep breath, firmly grabbed my digger and started to remove the dirt, after the second scoop out rolled that great big token.......I will admit, I did do a Happy Dance ( or as Hombre says " Ringy Dingy" dance) I was a happy camper and the V3i lives another day.

Rich( Utah) joined us a few days and made some nice finds, was good seeing him again as well as Remfire. Del and Patsy came by on their way to "Lost" said hi to them and chatted a minute. Monte had some family matters to deal with and only made it up for a short time. So the middle of this week I'm taking him up there and hopefully, a few finds will come outta the ground.

During the whole trip, I used only 2 machines, the Racer 2 with 7" Concentric and the 5" Nel Sharp coil and the Nokta Fors Relic with 9.5 x5 and 5" coils.

When it was all said and done I ended up with 3 tokens, The Club GF 5 cents, Assembly Pool Hall GF 5 cents and that spectacular $2.50 token.

Also got a 1904 & 1897 Barber Dimes, 1895 IH, 1928 Buffalo Nickel, 1905 & 07 V Nickels, 1869 Seated Dime and 1894 Barber Quarter.

To round it off also got a cuff link, a nice 1850'ish Navy/Marine button a few marbles and an arrowhead.

( side note, in pic # 3, don't know how it snuck in but the penny looking coin is a 1957 Canada Penny.)

Pic #1 All the finds ( like Zincoln, left out a bunch of doodads)
Pics # 2-5 the finds seperated out.

Nokta FORS CoRe
Nokta FORS Relic
Makro Racer & Racer 2

Yes, we generally accept the EQ-800 as being Ghost Town worthy, however ....
