Twins and a “little gold”

A club member shared a spot where the military maneuvered in 1943 but warned it had been hunted hard over the years. Friday was a beautiful day, partly cloudy and 57° so I thought I’d take advantage. Initially, I thought I’d been punked, no ration cans, cartridges, or ash piles like I’d found in other bivouac areas. But eventually I got a decent signal and dug a 1942 Merc. A quarter mile later on the way back to the pickup another sweet high signal produced another dime, the same year and mint mark. Just a few feet away six wheat back pennies in an area about 4 ft across. And the gold? The fountain pen nib says 14k so I’ll take it!

I was using a XP Deus with a X35 9” coil, although next time I go there I’ll use my 11” coil. I used the GM power and “Hot” programs settings but reduced the frequency to 7.7 kHz.
