Button Id from a field hunt yesterday

March 08, 2020 12:12PM
I got out for a couple hours yesterday afternoon and dug this button. I know it's post civil war, but wondering if anyone knows precisely what it is. I don't have any good button reference books.

Backmark is weak, but I cleaned it with olive oil on the reverse and it is D. Evans & Co No. Attleboro MA.
Marking is very weak at the ending of Evans so I cannot tell if it is & Co for sure. I know they were in business until 1945.

Also was very excited to dig a beautiful 24 inch " gold chain " marked 14k Italy, but it did not test out. sad smiley
So now I'm not so excited.

It's the second heavy chain that has been marked 14k that turned out not to be gold that I've recovered in the last few years. I wonder how much bad "gold jewelry there is out there.
