It has a deep groove from being it by a plow blade or something, and also some surface-eaten scars that an aluminum token can suffer, but at least it wasn't cut in-two. And it isn't a 'maverick' which we often find quite a few of. I haven't found a local token yet here in Vale, so it was nice to find one out at a ghost town. Gregg's found one or two and I think Joel nabbed one a year or two ago, so living here in Vale that was a find I've been hoping to make.

Part of the token is damaged or blistered (another aluminum token issue) so I can't easily see the initials. I believe it is: J. J. Prescott - Confectioner - Vale - Oregon - Good For 5ยข in Trade

I'll try to clean it up today and get a photo posted here later. Get some shopping done and enjoy a shower or thunderstorm later today, and rest up for another trip or two back out to that townsite. After today the beautiful spring weather continues. Just what I need to work my favorite detectors and coils. And I still need to break into the 1800's this year as well.

Monte

Ya but its kinda a unique token in that its smaller than nickel size and closer to dime size or a bit bigger. The first one I have seen that small come outta there and it seems to be on the rarer side as the Hemphill book doesn't even list that token. In fact, I couldn't find any info on it at all.

The ones that I have found and the one Joel found were more common Vale tokens and listed in the book.

At least now Joel & I can be removed from your "bad" list smiling smiley
