Ha ha, nice Rich, glad it isn’t just that I’m too slow to figure out the magic formula.
I have been to an old railroad construction camp and it was a nightmare due to piles of old gallon size tins and their rotted fragments that had been used to haul in the black blasting powder that was used for the project. Also had the old GTI 2500 which was next to unusable in the more mineralized terrain.confused smiley
Cheers,
Drew

I owned, used, but just didn't like the GTI 245--. Maybe OK for a few urban park hunters who could put up with it, but never, regardless of search coil mounted, did it provide the level of performance I wanted / needed for Relic / Old Site Hunting.

Most of the 'fragments' or 'shards' of Rusty Tin are on the surface or very shallow, and most of their favorite places to hang out at are dirt-based and quite often fairly loose material. I would guess that when I encounter a 'probable' Iron-sounding piece of junk, I can "toe-scuff" the shallow surface soil and move small Iron trash away from the spot and disrupt a lot of the masking-type audio and more easily audibly classify Ferrous debris ... usually about 80% of the time or more.
