Monte's settings for ghost town hunting

June 14, 2020 02:17PM
I was going to do a PM on this then thought others may find it a good question.
I recall Monte saying he runs with his sensitivity as close to maximum as possible in his hunts. I know that leaves a lot of latitude for interpretation.
My question is why? from what I have gleaned most targets are not deeply buried in these ghost towns, rather the opposite, near the surface and exposed by a toe scrub.
I would think from my understanding that using high sensitivity/gain would amplify the undesired signal response of the tin, and ferrous trash which could have the effect of possibly overwhelming a co-located good target .confused smiley
Other seasoned ghost town hunters please feel free to share your thoughts too.

Okay, I stand ready for my 20 lashes, and hopefully enlightenment.
