Garrett Apex 3 hour ghost town hunt

Took the Apex to a ghost town yesterday to see just how well it would do. Definitely needs a small coil but I also knew what to expect going in. Not much found as you can see and what I did find was not in the iron messes but on the outer perimeter of the town site. The Apex ran rather quiet in zero mode, iron audio off, MF and sensitivity at 2 bars down from the top.

This place has a lot of bottle caps but I could tell most of them by simply turning 90 degrees on the target. The bootle cap would read 85 ish one way but 60-70 ish the other. Not a fool proof method but it works for me and digging most of them proved I was right. Also a lot of flat tin, the Apex called about 2/3 of it correctly as iron and as for most of rest of the tin that initially sounded good, was also revealed as a bad target when turning 90 degrees. Only a few pieces of tin sounded like a coin. I either could see or dug all the tin targets just to be sure it wasn't a good target. If the Apex with current coil was the only unit you had to use, it wouldn't be all that bad to run in a ghost town IMO. But until Garrett gets a smaller coil I probably won't be taking it to another ghost town.

Good report, Andrew, and really matches how I have felt about the Apex ...
