Remfire
. . . maybe I should have! When Gregg graciously invited me to accompany him Sunday, I joked “drive 4 hours to find a pull tab?” I was well along that path late in the day!
I was using the Deus and a 9” X35 coil but struggled to find anything notable until about the last two hours. Seems like everywhere I went I saw Gregg’s footprints but I lucked into the little swallow pin or barrette, and a “The Club” token. The other side says good for 10 cents but the 10 has a dent on the number, making it hard to read. It looks like it may have been done on purpose. It’s still soaking because it had some nasty alkali on it and it wouldn’t photograph well.
Hopped in the pickup at the end of the day and headed home, thankful I didn’t get skunked.
I can’t report what my settings were because I was so excited to find something I forgot to look. Most of the day I was using one of three custom programs, one Kickindirt gave me and a couple I have modified from factory settings. One thing I did was choose 5 tone, as it has helped me hear non ferrous in nails.
Roger,
With the area so heavily hunted the last few years, it seems to me that turning up several non-ferrous targets is an accomplishment. BTW the swallow / bird pin is very cool. And congrats on the token as well. I think you need to take a tip from Gregg's cleaning regimen - his
toilet bowl cleaner. IM him for the details - it works well and will get the
crap off your finds.
