Andrew------Would like to see a pic of that brass piece you dug at 36".----I've never dug anything even remotely close to that depth in my life with a super detector (Minelab PI)----or any other detector.--------Not doubting your word----I;d just simply like to see the target & see what it looks like.-----------I'd love to go on one of those southern organized civil war hunts someday---but---I guess that isn't going to ever happen.---------------Del----

Another day out hunting Civil War relics. To answer some of the questions, I'm in Virgina hunting actual Civil War camps. Diggin In Virgina is the event with about 160 people in attendance. Yes we are social distancing. 90% of the people here use a GPX. The soil is hot and a VLF is pretty much worthless unless you're hunting iron patches. Right tool for the right job. Just to give you an idea of how deep the stuff can be, I dug a piece of brass about the size of the top of a soda can today at about 36". I will be here the rest of the week and will post my finds daily. Hope you all can get out a few more times before the cold weather sets in.
