Rich-----You're missing my point.----Look at the little girls hands---she's got multi rings on fingers of BOTH hands.-----Steel toe boots you say?---For years we haven't purchased detecting boots (or shoes with ANY metal in them--or at the very least with as minimal metal in them as possible).-------Turn a Cell phone off you say?----What's a cell phone??-----I'm out there to metal detect not answer some phone call!-----Leave that thing at home---or at least in the truck (along with the ring(s).-------Balls---I don't care what anyone does---I'm goin huntin!

Well----One of the things the girl could learn "this winter"---GET THOSE RINGS OFF THOSE FINGERS (for obvious reasons).-----You don't see him with a ring on his finger---smart man!
Ok Del, here we go! I keep my wedding band on (left hand) when I'm hunting specifically for detector checks. Being left handed means that i dig with my right hand, swing the detector with the left hand. Oh, and if hunting a turfed area, i use a ground cloth making it easy to lift the contents from a hole up and away from the ground and other possible targets.
Advice - Don't wear steel toes boots when detecting ! Keep rings off your digging hand. Turn the cell phone OFF. Yes, it does make a difference with my detectors and keep those drives in the fairway!
