An object overshadowed by silver, but still noteworthy

Here is the button I found near Chris’s Spanish silver.

I believe this is a small tombac button, based on the cast mound on the back. The shank is broken off, but if it is a tombac button it is likely mid-late 1700s. A very very rare find for out this far west. Now of course I would prefer Spanish silver, but perhaps I might be lucky enough to stumble across a large cent, capped bust silver, or maybe even gold. One can always dream, and I can’t wait to get back out into those fields.

On the Minelab it rang up around 8-9. For reference, a nickel is usually 11-12.
