Went out to the farm today, and swung for a bit. First target of the day was a 1981 Washington quarter, 10" deep. That was quite the bummer, as it had my heart going!
I wandered around, and came across a blasting 21 signal, right on the surface. I assumed a rivet, or maybe a wheat. Bent over to see this little edge sticking out, and holed. I knew right away I had a very old silver.
It is a Carlos the 3rd half real. Date is gone, but it is between 1772-1789. Absolutely blown away. I am so glad I was not left behind on Spanish, and absolutely blown away over 1700s Spanish silver being in Oregon. Could even be before we were a country! incredible, another amazing find for the year, and my oldest coin.
Same set up as always, Equinox 800, park 1 mode. Stock coil.
