Re: My first half cent

Using my Tesoro Tejon with 10x12 widescan as depth is important in that particular area. My primary disc is just after iron so iron cut nails will crackle (soft break). Secondary disc I run at line above nickel so If I get a semi round tone and it goes silent on 2nd I know it's a nickel. Soft tones below that mark are usually small or thin gold rings/earrings and of course foil and chuncks of magnetite. Magnetite will be at the foil/iron break and will do a great job of hiding targets.
Any targets that have a nice tone roll, not flat or sharp (bit of a pop at ends of tone) are almost always aluminum. Silvers on the Tejon are fairly soft sounding especially dimes. So hunting is really easy in some these areas as I can just ignore the loud brash junk.

That V nickel came in on the second break much like a fatty IH would and the copper must have come out of it from the fertilizers used in the area as it was near an old corn field. Just my guess.

Anyway of fixing the topic title? Maybe add "almost" to the beggingin? smiling smiley
