Lisa and I received permission on an old property undergoing renovation. It's rained hard the past few days and it was a real mud-fest with countless zinkers and pull tabs and gloves filled with sticky clay. We managed a few wheats, a buff, old marbles and some what-zits. Not one signal in the silver range anywhere on the property. The home is dated 1922 but activity in the area goes back much earlier.
One of my shallow zinc signals turned out to be an extremely rare token from the Studebaker Brothers Wagon and Buggy Manufacturers. Before making cars, they made hardware that was used in most covered wagons that brought the Mormons to Utah. It's an Incused design and dates back into the 1890ish Utah Territory days.
Monte- I know you're gonna look it up in Campbell's book, it's a previously unknown variety making it even more special to me.
