Didn't find any famous taters, but got a nice surprise and something to add to the binder.
Loaded the dogs up and we headed out to an old stage stop over in Idaho. I wasn't expecting too much as the place is easy to get to and has seen more than its share of coils. I started out using the small "oor coil" in the nastier areas but no luck. So I decided I would try a trick straight out of the Silverhounds playbook.
I grabbed my other CoRe that has the 9.5 x 5 coil on it and head out to the very backside of the site and was working that area way out there. It had some trash but wasn't too bad. After a bit got a nice high tone. I dug some dirt out and I'll be darn.....there in the bottom of the hole was a round disc......an 1857 Seated Quarter. Really shocked me as I was just not expecting much of anything.
The quarter was worn pretty well and thin. But once I got home and cleaned it a little, with the right light and the right angle I could make out the date. So that made for an exciting morning and was so unexpected............
It started to get really hot, so we packed it up and headed for home.
