Good post Monte! Absolutely right, the roads are often overlooked. On a visit to one of Central Utah's "hunted out" and overgrown ghosts, we found a portion of the road to be holding several barber dimes.
I work in a historic mining town turned ski area. As the snow melts out each spring close to ground level, you start seeing depressions where old roads were back in the day even though they are overgrown now. Followed one several years ago and found cash coins and several Eagle "C" buttons. Similar to your story, I guess it to be an old laundry site.
