Every Outing we learn something, and the 15th WTHO was no different. I wanted to work in one more Outing before colder or wetter fall weather arrived and thought about mid-Seprember, the 14th thru 18th since we usually run Wed. thru Sun. Someone told me that many people might not fit one in if they also enjoyed Labor Day Weekend.
I know that a few years ago we had an outing close to a holiday weekend and a couple of attendees suggested we just incorporate the weekend with the Outing. So, since this was The Last Hurrah for 2022 as we as basing it out of Wells, I figured it might not be a bad idea. Turns out I was wrong.
Some folks couldn't make it due to their work schedule, and some had other plans for the holiday. Gas prices kept a few people home from the travel, and
nobody expected to have the high, record-breaking heat we have been dealing with Out West.
Long story short, only a few made it during the Holiday Weekend start and are home or headed home and won't be here later in the week or for the Dinner Get-Together.
All the contact info is in my computer at home and not my phone but the few I have checked on said they were not going to make it.
I have been at Motel 6 since last Friday and if we are not going to have anyone else show up I might head home on Wednesday and save on my credit card charge. I do want everyone to report in who made the Outing so I can get a head count and know the detector brands used. Even if we don't have the people or the Dinner, I am still going to do the Random Drawings this weekend and have one or two attendees present to help so all will know it is on the up-and-up.
Anyway, some lessons learned for planning future Outings and the good news is we did not have any rain, snow or ice to interfupt this event .... but we sure had some hot, dry weather. Now we will turn to the replies for Outing Participants to respond below. If you would, please comment on the detector used and the town that surrendered your keepers.
