Ha Ha....yea, I tried like heck to see an "O" on the reverse of the dime! The Obverse was heavily encrusted with nasty Nevada sun baked soil. I don't usually try to clean coins, but it was so encrusted I initially thought the date was 1845. Since the coin was moderately worn and not rare, I gave it to my friend to use his electrolysis system on it. I think it came out great and now I know the date. I have attached a before photo.
The sites are not trashy unless you get close to the RR tracks, so the 11" coil was the one most used with the 5x10 switched to when it did get chattery. The last site we found will need the 15" coil for initial recon. I use a GPS to define the target scatter then zero in on the higher density target areas. There is so much left out there but you must research and work vast areas to home in on the hot spots. God, I love time travel...
