I spend way more time with my nose in the books or over a map looking for such caches or possible locations, than I do with my coil over suspected spots....no success, so far.
but, with that, it would seem that the new machines, and maybe the new mindsets, are being developed for searching out that 14-inch deep dime...I doubt there are many, especially those new to the hobby, that would dig a signal that was large enough or deep enough to possibly be a cache....even if one was stumbled upon...seeing that there are so many that would complain that they just dug a square nail that their machine reported to be a silver dime, I doubt that the larger signals are even considered, I mean, what is the TID of a cache?...utube is full of videos on digging deep dimes, or small beach gold...some videos show the recovery of a caches by happenstance....I have yet to watch one where someone actually attempted to recover a cache and then went out and found it.
I guess that my area of NY has a countless number of caches just waiting to be found....there are so many reasons that this
must be so....with that, most of my time swinging a detector is spent searching out coins, rings or relics.... but it is caches that brought me into this hobby and more of my time is spent researching possible locations.
