Back to the homestead

June 05, 2017 01:38AM
I went back to a previous hunt site yesterday. I had seen a couple can dumps before and tried to find them again but you probably know how that goes. I did find a spot where there were a couple large depressions. Searching there I found the mess kit fork, the top of a talc container, and a 30-06 blank cartridge, leading me to believe WW2 GIs used the area for maneuvers.

Moving on I found detritus from early 1900s habitation including the tin which looked like a tobacco tin but was in fact a natural laxative container, and the internals of a pocket watch (can anyone explain why we find so many watch parts but so few cases?). Finally I got a good quarter TID! Dug quickly and discovered a 1984 quarter about a mile from my parking spot. Nuts, I guess my spot isn't a secret!

P.S. I tried many times to ad my photo without success, guess I'll try later.
