Stage coach line coin spill

Thought I'd share some pics of an awesome hunt I had recently with a friend of mine. I was looking at an old map, and thought I might have discovered an old stage coach line that roughly parallels the interstate. It was a well used route for many years. A large portion of it ran through some public state owned land, so I thought it might be worth detecting.
Soon after we started detecting, while walking along the old trail/road, I got a solid 85 on my Deus, right in the middle of the road. Turned out to be a 1910 Barber dime in decent shape. This was starting to look promising.
My buddy and I continued down the trail, both zig zagging looking for more good targets. My friend was a head of me a little bit.
Suddenly, my friend (who is LDS) starting cursing. Well, Mormon cursing anyway. He kept saying over and over, "effing hell!" I ran over to him.
Apparently some broken glass had caught his eye. As he approached the glass he saw on the surface a large black disc. He assumed it was something plastic. He swing his detector over it and it rang up high silver. That's when the mormon cursing started.
I walked over and we both took a look. Tarnished black from the sun, for who knows how long was a 1861 seated half dollar! Effing hell indeed!
He began searching the area with his detector.
I tried searching on the other side of a large juniper about 10 feet away.
I got a solid silver signal, dug it, and about 2 inches down a quarter came up. It was an 1858 seated quarter! Oh wow, this was getting good.
My friend called me back over to a faint signal He Found. It sounded good, just very faint, like it was deep. But this was in the road where it was rocky. He carefully dug around the signal, and only an inch or two down, another beautiful seated half dollar came up. This one must have been wedged in the rocks on its side. It was a 1858 seated half, New Orleans mint!
Wow, it was looking like a seated coin spill!
My friend started combing the area with his detector digging any signal no matter how bad or weak.
After several minutes he started walking away to a nearby campsite.
I thought I'd try getting under that juniper tree where I had found the quarter. I circled the tree swinging my coil way up under the low branches. Then I got a definite solid high silver tone, between where i had found my quarter and his first seated half. I dug it up, only about two inches down, and yes, it was another seated half, 1871!
We searched and searched the area after that, but didn't find anymore coins.
Still, to find 3 seated halfs and a seated quarter from 1858-1871, we were very happy. I still can't believe it. It was a small taste of what it must have used to be like 40 years ago, finding a place noone had ever detected.
Anyways, you can be sure I'll be going back real soon!

Cheers!
