My brother and I did a last minute weekend trip to Nevada. Hunting ghost towns Friday and Saturday. On our way home Sunday we stop off to hunt a spot were he has dug some old coins including silver. I've never dug any silver here, but nothing like finish our detecting with the fresh morning air filled with the smell of sage and the sun rising up in the horizon.
My first target not sounding to good, being one of those iffy ones we get now and then. Digging it 4 inches down out comes a 1900S dime this makes it my second one this year with the same date and mint mark. About 15 minutes later my brother hollers he had got one too. It was a 1874 dime well this would make a person think, might as well put the detectors away and head for home since it will get no better. Maybe an hour later I got a hit under a sage bush against the trunk hoping it was not a beverage can since they were some around were I was hunting. Running the pin pointer through the dirt I had just dug out it sounded off. This met it was not an aluminum can. It was a 1896S quarter making it the the most valuable key date in my detecting. Now I know its time to head home, because I'm sure we could hunt for the rest of the day and not get another thing. Note the size of the marble.
The last three photos are my brothers finds (silverhound1)
The token is a luxury tax I've never heard of one of these.
The last photo is a silver ring with a saddle and rope design on it.
