thank you all who looked at the item I posted. It always bugs me not to know what something is. Mark Parker from E / W treasure responded and you were almost right on target. I was hoping military but i still like the item. Make me smile. smiling smiley

Your find is the main portion of a "Prussian Brace" suspenders buckle dating from the latter half of the 19th century. An 1870 advertisement refers to, "The Prussian brace made with improved cloth ends by the National Suspender Co. These suspenders are made with beauty, strength, and ease." The ad reportedly featured the image of William I, then Emperor of Germany.
