I've started my evaluation of the new Simplex +.

Too many people have been comparing it with a $900 Minelab Equinox, $650 Garrett AT Pro, and other mid-range to higher-end models and that just isn't fair or logical. Dilek stated in any of her posts of on-line videos that the Simplex + is their "Entry Level" detector, and at $299 it should fairly be compared with competitor's models in a close price range.

I can say this right now. The build quality is truly impressive and what I expected to see from Nokta / Makro. The adjustable feature-set is very impressive for ANY detector model in an "Entry-Level" category, and the features and adjustments work quite well.

Is it 'perfect?' Nope, because NO detector from any manufacturer is 'perfect,' and I know some folks might find fault with some of it's performance behavior. But keep in mind, the Simplex + is what it is, an Entry Level detector that allows newcomers to this great sport to have a solid, well outfitted detector that can be used for all of the more common detecting they are likely to do. As I evaluate this unit, like I do any model, I look for both the strengths and weaknesses so when I get my review up about the Simplex + I'll be sharing what I feel are the strong points and weak points as most consumers might expect to experience.

When I unboxed this unit early yesterday I was so impressed I felt it was more like Christmas morning and not the day before Thanksgiving. The Simplex + was certainly not offered up as a model to replace any of the up-scale models Nokta / Makro has in use, so don't get the idea it is a budget way to have a FORS CoRe or Relic, a Racer 2 or Impact, or nudge a Multi-Kruzer or Anfibio Multi aside. It's a wonderful detector to fill that market niche, however, and can make a neat detector to have on-hand and keep in your vehicle year-round if you're concerned about doing that with a higher-end/priced model.

Joel, overall, the Simplex+ has a lot to offer. Correct.
