I finally snagged me one. Also know a guy that had a extra little sniper coil too.

I know some folks who have a Nokta CoRe and they are quite content and, for them, don't feel a need to add a Nokta Relic. But I also know of two people who have very good success with their Relic and have passed on picking up a CoRe. Either way, both models offer a lot of performance potential and, I admit, they do feel identical and both work wonders in very dense ferrous debris.

I have tried to explain to them in some discussions we've had about the merits of the few different features they have, and especially about an 'edge' one might have over the other simply due to their operating frequencies. The CoRe operates at 15 kHz while the Relic is at 19 kHz and most people just don't comprehend there would be much difference between them with that 4 kHz difference. Well, I spent a year using my FORS CoRe and learned it well and trusted it a lot and then received the FORS Relic prototype. Although I had put in some time with their other 19 kHz FORS Gold Plus, it was similar but lacked some modes and features of the Relic.

I immediately bonded with the Relic. I liked what it offered with things like the Iron Audio Volume and the Deep Mode, plus it has the Ferrous / Non-Ferrous break-point at '20' to spread out the Non-Ferrous numeric VDI range. Similar yet different from each other. It's like having a Nokta / Makro Impact, Multi-Kruzer or Anfibio Multi which all default turn-on at 14 kHz but allow the user to select either a 19 kHz or 20 kHz higher frequency. Or maybe an XP user with a Deus or ORX that also offer some slight-difference Frequency changes. A savvy, avid user will be able to learn and take advantage of the model selections or, as in my case, simply grab either a CoRe or Relic to have a similar yet different detector in their hand.

If you've followed some recent posts I have suggested that, out of our Welcome-to-Hunt Outing group, there are three of us now so equipped with BOTH a Nokta CoRe and Relic. Me, OregonGregg and now Dan'o. I offered the suggestion that those who would like to join the fun can have a FORS CoRe Day and then a FORS Relic Day on the 12th WTHO this coming June. That would be the only detector we would use on those assigned days, and search coil choice would be optional.

And now you're going to have a FORS CoRe which makes you a 50%'er, since you don't also have a Relic, but you'd be welcome to join us in a FORS CoRe Day on the Outing. smiling smiley Who knows, you might come to enjoy the CoRe so much that you will make room in your own detector outfit to add another similar-looking detector down the road.eye rolling smiley

PS: That 'guy' you know who had the extra little 'OOR' DD coil just happens to be rather fond-of, and successful-with, his own CoRe and will be some serious competition if you ever go detecting with him.
